PLAYBOYS AT HACKNEY EMPIRE 19/7/00
Drummer takes centre stage shock!
The Ken Ardley Playboys rounded off their set with 'Picasso' and during a concentrated attempt to recreate that 'New York subway sound' drummer Sandi saw an unattended microphone and seized his moment. The band were momentarily phased as Sandi strode to the front of the stage and began to bellow:
' Well some people try to pick up girls
And get called assholes
This never happened to Pablo Picasso
He could walk down your street
And girls could not resist his stare and
No one ever called Pablo Picasso an asshole '
Without a moments hesitation Bob ( no mean drummer himself) dumped his guitar and slid behind the kit. Although Ken was to give us all a good dressing down later for this breach of discipline, even he had to admit that judging by audience reaction ( especially amongst the women) this new line-up could be our salvation.
